Facing challenges, we as Christians do not try to “muscle through.”  The wisdom of the world says, “When the going gets tough, the tough get going.”  The people of Jesus say as in the children’s hymn, “I am weak but he is strong.  Yes, Jesus loves me.” When the going gets tough, Christ’s people turn to him and he raises us up.  He lifts us.  He sustains us.  Paul says he gives us victory. His power is sufficient for all things.  Jesus never lets us down.

In Second Corinthians we read, Three times I besought the Lord about this, that it should leave me but he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” I will all the more gladly boast of my weaknesses, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 10 For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities; for when I am weak, then I am strong.  Our strength comes not from our resources, but form the Lord who wins the battle for us.  We win when we surrender, not to trial, but to our almighty God!

Please pray with me.  “Lord, teach us to rely upon you.  Help us in all things to trust you.  Remove from us all fear and timidity, knowing that we belong to you and you hold us in the palm of your hand.  We ask in Jesus’ name.  Amen.”
