Psalm 139 "Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my thoughts. See if there is any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting."

As a follow up to the sermon today, we invite God to look us over and evaluate us. We do so for a purpose. To see what is wrong and eliminate whatever it is standing between us and God.

Does this take courage on our part?

No, it takes confidence in the way of God. It takes confidence in the grace of God, knowing that God will purify and uplift us, not crush us down and condemn us.

It takes desire on our part, our desire to let God shape and form us into what he wants us to be.

It requires an admission on our part that have fallen short and missed the mark.

The best thing we can do is submit to God and ask God to make us over into what he wants us to be.

The last words of the verse from the Psalm tells it all. There is a reason for us to submit to the testing of God. It is so we can find the way to life everlasting. God is giving that to us and it is our great desire.

Please pray with me. "Loving God, you are the fountain of mercy. You are our only hope and the great desire of our hearts. Test us and purify us. Make us over into what you want us to be. We ask for the sake of your Son, Jesus. Amen."
