Building and Grounds
The Building and Grounds Committee is one of the most important areas of our church family at Hillsborough Reformed Church at Millstone. This is due, in part, to the historic significance of our sanctuary itself, plus the other associated buildings. The care of such historic buildings requires an enormous amount of diligence and energy and old-fashioned tender loving care.
This Committee is charged with not only the routine maintenance of the church structure, but also Memorial Hall, the church parsonage, parking areas, and the historic cemetery.
Some grounds issues this committee contends with include seeking new areas for parking, improved outdoor lighting, and many matters brought before the congregation, while complying with local ordinances and historical society restrictions placed upon all historical properties.
Building and Grounds deals with the physical needs of church properties like maintaining heating, insurance, lawn-care and snow removal contracts, overseeing custodial care and supplies. To this end this Committee schedules at least two volunteer workdays and/or “Blue Jean Sunday(s)” to which we all apply additional loving care to our buildings.
Though the focus of Building and Grounds for most organizations is a single purpose (that of keeping buildings and property functional and operational), we realize that ours is a larger purpose. The true purpose of Building and Grounds for Hillsborough Reformed Church at Millstone is to be good stewards for what generations have left in our care as our newsletter shows—“the historic church with the ageless mission: Joyfully Embracing Christ and Community.” We will make certain that this beautiful and historic church continues to stand strong, giving glory to God.
This group of beautiful buildings nestled on a shady corner of Millstone requires lots of TLC. Should caring for these historical buildings be of special interest to you, please contact our church office at (908) 359-3391 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org. All interested persons are welcome.
“For I have not hesitated to proclaim to you the whole will of God. Keep watch over yourselves and all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers. Be shepherds of the church of God, which he bought with his own blood.”
